Leap and the net will appear?
It’s a lovely idea, but these fellas took some insurance along just in case.
They are launching themselves into the Cave of Swallows in Mexico. With a 333 metre drop this is one of the deepest cave shafts in the world, capable of swallowing the Empire State Building with ease and it’s been known to have the odd hot air balloon drop inside as well.
Its usual residents are the swarms of swifts who have to slowly fly in circles upwards before pouring from the mouth of the cave to feed. Every now and then they receive human visitors drawn by the prospect of a 12 second freefall.
I was hoping this post would actually feature a BBC film of a bloke who luzzed himself out of a plane from several thousand feet up and successfully plunged straight through the mouth of a cave shaft before popping his chute underground.
Couldn’t find it. I’m sure it exists. I may draw a picture of it or reenact it with Lego.
Anyway, it would be uncool to take anything away from the above achievements.
Kudos to all.
